My name is Kelsie Ruter and I warmly welcome your second
grader into my classroom for the 2014-2015 school year. This will be an exciting year sprinkled with
fun and opportunities for personal and academic growth.
I would
like to tell you a bit about myself. I
was born in northwest Iowa, but moved to Denver when I was two, which makes me
an official “semi-native.” I attended a
small college back in the Iowa town I was born in. There, I was fortunate enough to play
volleyball, soccer, and basketball. Since I am now a wash-up, I enjoy playing recreational sports, tennis, and losing rounds of golf to my husband. :) Needless
to say, being active always has been and continues to be a large part of my
life. After graduating, I moved to
Bozeman, Montana and taught second grade there for one year. Although it was beautiful, I couldn't stand
the cold and the fact that it snowed in October and didn't melt until May.
I moved
back to Denver and have been at Coyote Hills ever since. I taught second grade my first two years at
Coyote Hills, and for the past two years have taught third grade here. I am so excited to be back in second grade
again! In March of 2013, I married my
husband, Luke, who is a Recreation Coordinator in Highlands Ranch. Last March, we bought, renovated, and moved
into our first house. It was a wonderful
experience, but not one that I am looking to do again anytime soon! This summer
we enjoyed relaxing, settling into our house, camping, and spending time with
our families. We are also expecting our first child in January! We are so excited for this new chapter in our lives!
I am
looking forward to this year! This is a wonderful school and community- I am
blessed to be a part of it! I want to thank you in advance the support you
offer to your child and to myself throughout the year.
