1st Week of School

REMEMBER...EVERY PARENT MUST ENTER THROUGH THE MAIN DOORS AND PRESENT AN ID EVERYTIME FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR!

We are so excited to see you all on the first day of school.  Here a few important things to know for the first week of school:

Monday:

Line up outside by the baseball field in front of the 2/3 pod doors.  We will be waiting with teacher signs to meet you at 8:40am.  School begins at 9:00am.  If you and your child are past 9:00am, you are considered late and should enter through the main doors.

Your child will be engaged in wonderful activities and oriented to the classroom.  We hope to build wonderful first day memories!

Tuesday:

Line up outside the 2/3 pod doors.  We will be waiting with teacher signs to meet you at 8:45am.  School begins at 9:00am.  If you and your child are past 9:00am, you are considered late and should enter through the main doors.

We will have a "typical" day of class.  Your child will receive instruction in all subjects and will be receiving more materials.  We will be teaching your child about our expectations and working on review material in each subject area.

Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday:

Line up outside the 2/3 pod doors.  We will be waiting with teacher signs to meet you at 8:45am.  School begins at 9:00am.  You know the drill!

We will be in our routine by now.  Your child will receive instruction in all subjects and hopefully feeling like a rockstar as the material is a refresher in order to dust off those cobwebs!

Your child will be working on the follow:

LUNCH MENU:

Please refer to the side bar on your right for a link to the CCSD Cafeteria Menu.

Science:

Science instruction is taught in two ways in second grade: nonfiction text that meets our literacy standards and through our district-wide program FOSS.  FOSS will begin after Memorial Day.  As we continue to develop our first theme - communities, we will begin to weave in Science instruction throughout the literacy block in nonfiction text (such as Weekly Reader.)

We look forward to a FABULOUS first week.

Sincerely,
The Second Grade Team
