Thursday, November 13th-

Hello Families!

Thank you for joining us for parent teacher conferences.  It was so nice to touch base with you, and discuss your wonderful children.

Friday, November 13th is a non-contact day for students.

We enjoyed a Veteran's Day Assembly last Friday, and had the opportunity to have Veteran's speak in our classrooms on Monday.  The students wrote a card to thank a Veteran for their service as well.

Next week Dr. N is coming to our grade to talk to the students about PACK expectations.

Thank you for your wonderful donations to the food drive, which will continue next week!

Through Focused Modeled Writing, kids will have an opportunity to learn as teachers model, as well as apply their thinking as they create their own thinking maps and writing. Our focus will be on building the structure in writing, while still learning to add details and use descriptive language.

Fast spelling test (lesson 11) will be on Friday, check out the spelling tab for the current list.  Lesson 5 in Wordly Wise will be continued (our words are: absorb, anchor, brush, bud, center, core, factory, hive, sapling, trunk )  don't forget about the wordly wise 300 link as an extra resource.

LITERACY:  Continuing whole group reading and responding, as well as small group conferences around individual reading levels.  We are currently working on using information from illustrations to demonstrate an understanding of characters, setting and plot.  We are asking questions like what do the illustrations tell me about the setting, what do the illustrations tell me about how a character is feeling, and what do the illustrations tell me about the plot.
